Esther Weitzel-Polzer

Esther Weitzel-Polzer (born August 25, 1950 in Eschenburg ) is a German sociologist and university professor . She has been a professor at the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences since 1993 .

Life

After studying social work at the Frankfurt am Main University of Applied Sciences , she studied sociology and pedagogy at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . The diploma in the field of educational sciences with a focus on gerontology was followed by a doctorate in 1991 with a thesis on the educational biographies of older workers at Anton Amann in Vienna and Günther Böhme in Frankfurt am Main . At Fredmund Malik , she completed further training in system-oriented management and financial management at the St. Gallen Management Center.

Esther Weitzel-Polzer is involved in party politics in the SPD and was a member of the local advisory council in Frankfurt am Main from April 1, 1981 to May 6, 1988 . After many years of management work at the Frankfurt Workers' Welfare Association and the Johanna Kirchner Foundation, she took over a professorship at the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences in 1993. There she is the dean of studies in the field of social work as well as the course leader of the master’s degree in Management and Interculturality and, since 2007, of the bachelor’s degree in Jewish social work. This bachelor's degree, which she has been leading in the second round with Doron Kiesel since 2011 , is unique in Europe. She is a member of the advisory board of the Rabbinical Seminary in Berlin .

Esther Weitzel-Polzer is married and has two daughters.
