Cândido Caldas

Cândido Caldas (born May 1, 1889 in Nossa Senhora do Desterro , Santa Catarina , † January 16, 1966 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a Brazilian marshal .

Life

Caldas completed an officer training in the army ( Exército Brasileiro ) of the armed forces (Forças Armadas do Brasil) and subsequently found various posts as an officer and staff officer. On September 7, 1937 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on May 24, 1940 to colonel , before his promotion to brigadier general took place on July 29, 1943 . He was the commander of the 6th Military Region (6th Região Militar) and on July 26, 1946, he released Guilherme Carneiro da Rocha Marback as governor of the state of Bahia and held this office until his replacement by Otávio Mangabeira on April 10, 1947. After his promotion to major general on June 7, 1948, he was between June 18, 1948 and January 18, 1949 commander of the 7th Military Region (7.ª Região Militar) . In 1953 he retired from active military service and received the rank of marshal (Marechal do Exército Brasileiro) .
