Cécile Corbel (born March 28, 1980 in Pont-Croix , Finistère ) is a French folk singer , harpist and composer. She comes from Brittany .

Life

Cécile Corbel learned to play the Celtic harp from the age of 15 . She toured numerous European countries, but also to Myanmar , Australia and the USA . She performed at several festivals and played the lead role in the musical Anne de Bretagne by Alan Simon , which deals with the life of the eponymous heroine . Numerous other renowned artists took part in the musical.

Corbel composed the music for the Japanese cartoon Karigurashi no Arrietty , which was released in Japan in July 2010. For this she was awarded for best music at the 2011 Tokyo Anime Awards .

Zorgnotti and Mondoloni were later replaced by Julien Grattard (violoncello) and Christophe Piot ( percussion ). Occasionally, Corbel's husband Simon Caby also appears as a band member. The two have a son born in 2015.

Corbel sings in French, English, Breton and Irish , and occasionally also in German. Her repertoire includes the Turkish song Yarim Gitti .
