Célestin Gérard (born February 13, 1821 in Monthureux-le-Sec , Département Vosges , † October 18, 1885 in the Château de Fay in Vierzon ) was a French designer and industrialist .

Gerard's parents were farmers in the Vosges , he was a trained carpenter. In 1848 he founded a workshop for agricultural machinery in Vierzon opposite the train station . In 1861 he constructed a mobile steam engine ( locomobile ), and in 1866 the first mobile threshing machine in France. His company, Société Française de matériel agricole et industriel since 1878 , later Société Française de Vierzon , developed into a major French tractor manufacturer in the 1950s .

Célestin Gérard died in 1885 at Château de Fay in Vierzon; he is buried in the Vierzon cemetery.
