The Côte Bleue (German: Blue Coast ) is a section of the French Mediterranean coast . It is located west of Marseille and extends to the mouth of the Étang de Berre in the Mediterranean.

From the east (Marseille) it includes the municipalities of Le Rove , Ensuès-la-Redonne , Carry-le-Rouet , Sausset-les-Pins and Martigues . At the western end the coastline merges into the Gulf of Fos . The name is derived from the deep blue water at this point in the Mediterranean. The chain of hills Chaîne de l'Estaque begins directly on the coast . There is no coastal road between the Marseille district of L'Estaque and Carry-le-Rouet, only a railway line that was built in the early 20th century.
