Le Rove is a French municipality with 5128 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur .
geography
The municipality is located on the one hand between Martigues and Marseille and on the other hand between the Mediterranean in the south and the Étang de Berre in the north. 2000 hectares, 87 percent of the municipal area, are under nature protection.
history
Caves were already inhabited in the current municipal area in the Stone Age. A settlement already existed in the early Bronze Age, the Camp de Laure , the first of its kind in Provence. In 1835 Le Rove became an independent municipality.
