CCCP is a German synth-pop band from Frankfurt am Main . Its name is the Cyrillic spelling of the abbreviation USSR (Союз Советских Социалистических Республик).

biography

The debut singles American-Soviets I and American-Soviets II appeared in 1986. Both pieces, as well as the singles Made in Russia and Orient Express later released in the 1980s , were extremely successful in alternative and dance clubs in Europe and the United States United States. American-Soviets reached number 39 in the German single charts and similar placements in the US hot dance music charts .

In 1990 the album The World was released . The LP Liaisons II by Beatamax / CCCP from 1986 is considered a debut album .

The members of the band Beatamax, Mario Habelt, Stephen Westphal and Frank Schendler (Orson), recorded American Soviets and presented the song under the band name C. C. C. P. u. a. in October 1986 in Formula One . The last release by C. C. C. P. with this line-up was Sound Innovator in 1987 . Frank Schendler later sang on United States of Europe , Freedom & Liberty and on the album The Hallucinogenic Toreador . In the late 1980s published Frank Schendler Never Again (JWB) and Blame It on the Samba at the label Westside Music. Mario Habelt was involved in 1989 as arranger and co- composer (some LP titles) at Mysterious Art ( Das Omen , 1989). 1999 produced it Eo Ea Mojito. Today the group CCCP only consists of the original band member and founder of the band Rai Streubel (Rasputin Stoy) and Frank Schendler (ex-Beat-A-Max).
