The Casar Drahtseilwerk GmbH (proper spelling: CASAR ), based in Saarland Kirkel , district Limbach is a German manufacturer of steel ropes and is considered a world leader in its market segment.

history

The company was founded in 1948 by Joseph Verreet. The company name Casar was an abbreviation for the French "Câblerie Sarroise" (in German about "Kabelwerk Saar") and thus took into account the political situation, according to which Saarland, which was formally independent after the Second World War, was closely linked to France.

Casar became an innovation driver early on. In 1949 the first eight-strand rope was produced; The industry standard at that time was the six-strand rope.

Since 2007, the company has been part of the US WireCo Group, which operates worldwide.

Products

Casar manufactures steel and wire ropes for professional use. These are mainly used in the following areas:

  • Cranes
  • Cableways
  • Offshore industry
  • Mining

Market position

According to him, Casar is the world market leader for special wire ropes (crane and mining ropes).
