The CASA C-101 Aviojet is a military training and light ground attack aircraft produced by the Spanish manufacturer Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA

description

Although there were a large number of light ground attack and trainer aircraft on the market by the mid-1970s, development of the Aviojet project began in 1975 with the support of Northrop Corporation and MBB . The first flight took place on June 29, 1977. The aircraft was, with the exception of purchased Garrett - engine , entirely in Spain manufactured.

The Spanish Air Force procured the machine in large numbers and also equipped their aerobatic team Patrulla Águila with the type in 1985 . The seven C-101 machines of Patrulla Águila today have a higher service ceiling of 14,000 m, a top speed of 845 km / h and, due to the lack of armament, larger tanks for a flight time of up to 7 hours.

An export version went to Chile (A-36M Halcon) and was later manufactured there under license . Other export countries are Honduras and Jordan .
