As a so-called jet trainer, the Fouga Magister was one of the world's first jet-powered training aircraft

The list of training aircraft should include all aircraft that were specially designed for the training of pilots or whose training purpose was also specifically planned in the design.

Training aircraft are usually designed to have at least two seats so that the flight instructor can give the student pilot tasks and instructions. For demonstration purposes or in the event of a misconduct on the part of the student, the teacher can take control of the aircraft via a double control.

Beginner training aircraft are mostly single-engine aircraft that are particularly easy to fly. They are used to practice general aviation maneuvers.

The highest demands are placed on a combat training aircraft. Some of these are very similar because they were designed according to similar requirements. In addition to being used as training aircraft, they can often be used as light fighter-bombers (e.g. BAE Hawk , CASA C 101 , Dassault / Dornier Alpha Jet and Saab 105 ).
