The Fokker S.14 power trainer was the first jet plane specially designed as a training plane and the first jet plane built in the Netherlands .

history

The first flight took place on May 20, 1951, in 1955 production was stopped. In addition to the prototype, 20 pieces were built for the Royal Netherlands Air Force . In 1952, Fairchild wanted to acquire the license rights to offer the US Air Force the S.14 as the new standard jet trainer; however, the decision was made for the Cessna T-37 . A planned start of production in Brazil did not take place due to political changes. Several other countries tested the S.14, but no orders were placed.

construction

The aircraft has a retractable landing gear. The turbine, a Rolls-Royce Derwent or Rolls-Royce Nene , is located in the fuselage. The vertical stabilizer is swept about 15 °, the wings and horizontal stabilizer are not swept. The wings are attached to the fuselage in a slight V-position.
