The Diamond Dart ( D iamond A ircraft R econnaissance T rainer) is a single-engine, two-seater turboprop - trainer aircraft of the Austrian manufacturer Diamond Aircraft .

history

The development of the air reconnaissance trainer announced at the Farnborough 2014 aerospace trade fair started in May 2015, the rollout took place in December 2015. The prototype with the registration OE-VDA took off on May 17, 2016 from Wiener Neustadt airfield for its first flight. In July 2016, the aircraft was demonstrated in flight at the Farnborough Airshow. On May 24, 2018, the aerobatic trainer version DART 550 with the registration OE-VGE, equipped with a General Electric GE H75-100 and Martin-Baker -Mk.16- ejection seats, had its maiden flight.

construction

The self - supporting low- wing aircraft with single trapezoidal wing, normal tail unit and retractable nose wheel landing gear is made of carbon fiber composite construction. The crew sits one behind the other on pneumatically operated ejection seats and controls ailerons and elevators with a sidestick .

An Ivchenko Progress AI-450S with 370 kW (500 PS) serves as the drive .
