The Club Atlético Hermann Aichinger - usually only known for short as Hermann Aichinger , but also Atlético de Ibirama - is a football club from the 17,000-inhabitant city of Ibirama in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina , which was significantly influenced by German immigration.

Atlético Hermann Aichinger has been playing in the state's highest league since 2005 and thus takes part in the state championship in Santa Catarina .

history

The club was founded on September 20, 1951 in Geraldo Stoll's bar as the successor to the Sociedade Desportiva Industrial founded in July 1944 . The club was then called Clube Atlético de Ibirama .

Hermann Aichinger donated the sports grounds to the club in 1955, whereupon the club renamed itself after him. In the same year, the club began building the stadium and began playing in the Blumenau district league .

After the club won the amateur national championship of Santa Catarina, the Campeonato Catarinense de Futebol Amador , by a 4-1 success in the final against Pérola in 1992 , the club qualified for division 2 of the national league. As a result, Atlético began professional gaming in 1993. In the first year, the team became second division champions and rose to the first state league.

The club took part in 1994, 1995 and 2003 and from 2005 until today in the first division of the national championship of Santa Catarina , the so-called Campeonato Catarinense . In the meantime, towards the end of the 1990s, the club slumped back into the amateur sector.

The greatest success was the runner-up championships in 2004 and 2005, which also entitle them to participate in the Série C , the third-highest national league in Brazil. In 2004 Hermann Aichinger finished second behind Figueirense FC in a league tournament . In the following year, the club was able to draw the final first leg at Criciúma EC with 1: 1, but lost the second leg in front of the record crowd of 6,022 spectators in their own place with 0: 1. Atlético's Paty was the record scorer of the national championship that year with nine goals.

In addition to participating in the game operations of the Série C, the two runners-up championships also provided access to the national cup competition, the Copa do Brasil . In 2005 Atlético was eliminated in the first round against Ituano FC from the state of São Paulo . After a 0-0 draw at home, the club was excluded from further competition because of the participation of the non-eligible player Fabiano. The following year, Hermann Aichinger lost the home game against Atlético Mineiro 3-0. The second leg was not held in Belo Horizonte .

Stadion

The club plays its home games in the club's own Estádio Hermann Aichinger , which is usually called Estádio da Baixada (stadium on the slope). The stadium facility was built in 1955. In 1994 the roofed grandstand was opened and holds 2,000 people.

The stadium has a capacity of 5,000 spectators. The attendance record dates from April 17, 2005, when Hermann Aichinger lost the decisive game against Criciúma EC in front of 6,022 spectators with 0: 1 in the second leg of the national championship .
