CCL18 ( English CC chemokine ligand 18 ) is a cytokine belonging to the family of the C-C chemokines .

properties

CCL18 is involved in inflammatory processes. As a preprotein in the endoplasmic reticulum, it is shortened to its active form of 69 amino acids. It is made by dendritic cells , monocytes and macrophages , but not by T cells or B cells . CCL18 is induced by IL-10 , IL-4 and IL-13 , i.e. rather by cytokines that activate TH2 cells or a humoral immune response or immunosuppression . Interferon-gamma inhibits the formation of CCL18.

CCL18 binds to the PITPNM3 , GPR30 and CCR8 receptors on other cells. CCL18 is chemotactic for various immune cells including naive T cells, regulatory T cells , TH2 cells, immunosuppressive and immature dendritic cells, basophils, and B cells (naive and effector B cells). The regulatory T cells bound by CCL18 are Foxp3 negative and secrete IL-10.
