Tspan-27 (synonymous CD82 ) is a surface protein from the group of tetraspanins and a tumor suppressor .

properties

Tspan-27 is made by lymphocytes . It is used to sort membrane proteins by structuring areas of the cell membrane. It reduces the metastasis and progression of tumors . Metastasis is inhibited by inhibiting motility , promoting cell polarity and initiating senescence and apoptosis as a reaction to certain extracellular signaling molecules. Tspan-27 regulates the composition of microdomains and the surface area in the cell membrane . It's glycosylated . Tspan-27 binds to CD19 , CD63 and CD234 .
