The Central African Economic and Monetary Community ( French: Communauté Économique et Monétaire de l'Afrique Centrale , abbreviated to CEMAC ) is an amalgamation of six Central African countries that was agreed in 1994 by the Central African Customs and Economic Union (UDEAC) and came into force in 1999 . Their common currency is the CFA franc BEAC , their central bank is the Central African Central Bank (BEAC), headquartered in Yaoundé , Cameroon .
The monetary community borders on the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA). All member states of CEMAC are also members of the Central African Economic Community (CEEAC).
