Tschaika ( Russian Чайка , translated ' seagull '; English transcription Chayka , often written as CHAYKA ) is a Russian radio navigation system that works similar to the American LORAN-C and how it is operated on the frequency 100 kHz.

Infrastructure

There are five Chaika chains in use. Like the LORAN-C transmission chains , they are identified by their group follow-up interval (GRI):

  • GRI 8000 - European chain
  • GRI 4970 - Northwest Chain
  • GRI 5960 - Nordkette
  • GRI 7950 - Ostkette
  • GRI 5980 - Russian-American chain
