CIMX-FM (89X) is a private radio broadcaster based in Windsor , Canada . The station broadcasts active rock and alternative rock music formats. 89X serves Essex County in Ontario and the greater Detroit area . The transmitter transmits on the frequency 88.7 MHz with an output of 100,000 watts and thus also reaches most of southwestern Ontario, southwestern Michigan and the greater Toledo area . In addition to the channel in Canada, Bell Media operates another channel of the same format in Bingham Farms ( Oakland County ).
