The CJD Jugenddorf-Christophorusschule Oberurff was founded in 1953 and is part of the Christian Youth Village Association in Germany . It has also been known since 1977 for its dyslexia center with an attached boarding school as well as the scientific publications on this subject, for which it serves as a reference.
location
The school is located in the Oberurff district of Bad Zwesten in the Schwalm-Eder district in northern Hesse . It was built on the site of the Oberurff Castle, which was built in 1877 as a residence for Prince Philipp von Hanau-Hořovice in the neo-baroque style. The castle has been part of the school since 1952.
The school, which consists of a state-recognized secondary school and grammar school, is attended by around 1,100 students, of whom up to 112 live in the attached boarding school.
Dyslexia Center
The dyslexia center, which has been officially recognized since 1977, is recommended by self-help groups and has already served as a reference for some dyslexia studies and as a scientific example for working with dyslexics. The therapy also includes riding lessons.
