Collagen type XXVIII, alpha 1 is a collagen that the gene COL28A1 is encoded. It forms homotrimers , which in turn form collagen fibrils of type XXVIII.

properties

Type XXVIII collagen contains the Von Willebrand factor type A domain. Collagen XXVIII is mainly located in the sciatic nerve and on the basement membrane of some Schwann cells . It is also an integral part of the Ranvier lace ring and surrounds non- myelinated glial cells .
