CROCUS (reactor)

CROCUS is a zero power critical of EPFL , which is used for teaching purposes. The effective thermal output is 100 W. The responsible Laboratory for Reactor Physics and Systems Behavior (LRS) works closely with the Paul Scherrer Institute .

The fuel is low-enriched uranium , the moderator is light water .

Construction started on January 1, 1979, and commissioning took place on July 13, 1983.

CROCUS is - besides the decommissioned Lucens reactor - the only reactor in the French-speaking part of Switzerland.
