The China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation ( CRRC for short ) is the largest rail vehicle manufacturer in the world and one of the largest industrial groups; it is headquartered in Beijing , China .

history

The Group was formed by the end of 2014 and announced by June 1, 2015 completed by means of a share exchange carried out merger of the two state-owned company China CNR Corporation Limited (CNR) and CSR Corporation Limited (CSR). The two parts had already been a joint venture in the past, until they were split up to strengthen competition in 2000. In 2018, a plant was opened in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Key figures

Based on combined sales of 224 billion yuan (2014), the CRRC conglomerate has been by far the world's largest company in the sector and one of the largest industrial groups from the start. The value of the two original companies was 299.7 billion yuan in 2014. On its first day of listing on the Hong Kong and Shanghai stock exchanges, CRRC's market capitalization reached the equivalent of $ 130 billion, ranking second behind General Electric , ahead of Siemens and Alstom . Each of the two original companies CNR and CSR was already more than twice as large as the rail divisions of Siemens, Alstom and Bombardier , with a turnover equivalent to just under 12 billion euros (2013) .

In 2014, CNR had a net profit of 4.49 billion yuan, CSR 5.31 billion yuan. At the beginning, CRRC had 175,700 employees.

management

The previous CNR chairman, Cui Dianguo , was appointed CEO of the entire group. Xi Guohua, previously President of CNR, became President of the CRRC. The chairman of the board of CSR, Zheng Changhong, became vice chairman of the CRRC, and CSR president Liu Hualong became vice-president.

Magnetic levitation train

CRRC intends to mass-produce a 600 km / h magnetic levitation train in 2021. The travel time between Beijing and Shanghai should then be 3½ hours.

CRRC in Germany

In June 2018, Deutsche Bahn ordered four shunting locomotives from CRRC that have a diesel-electric drive. There is an option to order 16 additional shunting locomotives via a framework agreement. A first locomotive was presented at Innotrans in summer 2018 . In May 2019 this locomotive was delivered to the S-Bahn Hamburg , in August 2019 the first test drives were carried out with a second locomotive.

In August 2019, CRRC took over the Transportation division from Vossloh , which includes the locomotive construction plant in Kiel-Suchsdorf .

CRRC in Austria

The CRRC ZELC Transport Technology GmbH , based in Vienna DC Tower will serve as a bridgehead in Europe with consulting services, the implementation of future projects in Europe, purchases of materials, the completion of maintenance and warranty services as well as marketing support.
