Cașolț ( Eng . Kastenholz , Hungarian Hermány ) is a place in Transylvania ( Romania ) and administratively belongs to the locality Roșia ( Rothberg ).
location
The village is located northeast of Sibiu ( Hermannstadt ) near the road to Agnita ( Agnetheln ).
Origin of name
The small town was first mentioned in a document on September 25, 1302. The name of the town probably goes back to the term caste, from Latin for oak and wood (not: chestnut). In the years 1339 and 1342 a Count Daniel von Kastenholz was listed as a member of the Sibiu chair representation.
Public transport
Kastenholz lies on the narrow-gauge railway Hermannstadt-Agnetheln, also called Wusch or Mocănița, which was led to Schäßburg ( Sighișoara ) until the 1960s . The "Rest-Wusch" to Agnetheln was practically shut down in 2001.
