The facade of the unfinished Ca 'Bernardo

Ca 'Bernardo , also Palazzo Giustinian Bernardo , is a palace in Venice in the Italian region of Veneto . It is located in the Dorsoduro sestiere with a view of the Grand Canal between the Palazzo Giustinian and the Palazzo Bernardo Nani , a short distance from the Ca 'Rezzonico and the Ca' Foscari .

history

The small palace in typical 17th century style belonged to the Giustinian and Bernardo families . Today some departments of the University of Venice are housed there.

description

The palace with its really unique, atypical architecture, which is unfinished on the right-hand side from the 2nd floor, shows an elegant facade with long double arched windows , which are elegantly set. The facade has four storeys: on the ground floor a double pointed arch portal opens onto the water, while the two main storeys seem to refuse the tradition of multiple windows and instead offer a very rare solution.
