Palazzo Bernardo Nani
Palazzo Bernardo Nani , also Palazzo Bernardo Nani Lucheschi , is a palace in Venice in the Italian region of Veneto . It is located in the Dorsoduro sestiere overlooking the Grand Canal , between Ca 'Rezzonico and Ca' Bernardo .
history
The palace was built in the 16th century by Alessandro Vittoria for the Nani family . Originally, the current side facade was the main facade that rose above the gardens where the Ca 'Rezzonico now rises.
description
The building, which was built during the transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque , shows a facade of extraordinary compactness and regularity, divided into a ground floor, two main floors and an attic. Following the dictates of Venetian architecture, the facade itself is organized around a central axis, characterized by two triple windows with balconies and the portal to the water. Pairs of individual windows adjoin to the right and left, indicating the division of the interior spaces, which are arranged around a protego (reception room), culminating in an atrium with a flight of stairs, which can be identified as the central axis through the side salons. The white front facade is also characterized by two coats of arms at the level of the 2nd floor. Another noteworthy feature is the very nice, elongated 19th century garden behind the palace.
