Ca 'Biondetti is a palace in Venice in the Veneto region of Italy . It is located in the Dorsoduro sestiere , overlooking the Grand Canal between the Palazzo Centani Morosini and the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni . It was built as the home of the painter Rosalba Carriera .

history

The 18th century painter Rosalba Carriera, who was famous for the precision of her finish and the magnificence of her colors, resided in the building in which the Biondetti family had lived for a long time .

description

The architecture of the building does not contain any elements of particular concern. The palace appears as the sum of two connected structures.

The left, larger part has a rectangular portal to the water on the left and three rectangular windows to the right; the two middle openings are a little closer together. On the first floor there are two rectangular doors in the middle with a shared balcony , each flanked by a single rectangular window. Four rectangular individual windows are arranged side by side on the second floor. At the top, the plastered and red-painted facade closes off with a serrated eaves . On the roof there is a small observation tower with a single rectangular window. The building has cornices made of Istrian limestone to separate floors . The frames of the openings and the eaves are also made of this material.

The right, narrower part has a large arched portal to the water on the left , next to which there are two rectangular windows on the right. On the first floor there are two rectangular doors with a shared balcony and between which a coat of arms is placed in the middle. There are two rectangular single windows on the second floor. The eaves, which is a little higher than the left part of the building, is supported by small consoles . There is a large chimney head on the roof. On this part of the building, too, with its plastered and red-painted facade, the frames of the openings and the eaves are made of Istrian limestone.

A large garden extends behind the house, adjoining that of the neighboring Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, in which there is a round fountain in the middle.
