List of grape varieties |
Cabernet Cubin is a late-ripening and yield-secure new red wine variety with robust viticultural stock characteristics. It has many similarities, in appearance and in wine, to the cross-breeding partner Cabernet Sauvignon . The variety delivers very colorful, tannic wines with a note of cassis, which are very complex and rich in extracts. The wines need a longer maturity to bring their optimal quality.
origin
The variety was bred in 1970 by the State Training and Research Institute for Viticulture and Fruit Growing in Weinsberg . In 1999 plant variety protection was applied for at the Bundessortenamt .
ancestry
Cross of Blaufränkisch × Cabernet Sauvignon -Clone Levadoux.
Ampelographic features

- The tip of the shoot is green and has only a few woolly hairs.
- The shoots are strong.
- The leaves are medium-sized, 5-lobed with a closed stalk bay.
- The grape is medium to large, shouldered with medium berry density. The berries are round, small to medium-sized, blue-black in color with a fruity berry flesh taste.
Maturity: very late
Yield
Brings high secure yields.
Expectations
