Hans Ambrosi

Hans Ambrosi (born February 24, 1925 in Mediasch , Transylvania , † August 31, 2012 in Rüdesheim am Rhein ) was the long-time director of the Hessian state winery Kloster Eberbach .

Life

Ambrosi was called up to the army immediately after graduating from high school in 1942 and was a soldier until the end of the Second World War . After the end of the war he moved to Geisenheim ( Hesse ). He studied at the local research institute (today: Geisenheim University ) and was able to successfully complete this course with his doctorate .

In 1955 Ambrosi went to South Africa. He worked there for over ten years on various wineries as an agricultural engineer and consultant. In 1966 he returned to Germany and in the same year was appointed director of the Hessian state winery Kloster Eberbach . In his Aegide, the state wineries in Hesse experienced a tremendous boom and modernization. He was also instrumental in the restoration of the Eberbach Monastery and its opening to the public. He also sponsored and supported the Rheingau Music Festival from the start.

In 1990 Ambrosi retired and devoted himself more than ever to writing. He last lived in Oestrich-Winkel .
