Stanley Finch (born July 20, 1872 in Monticello , Sullivan County , New York , †  1951 ) was an American government official. Finch became the first director of the newly formed Bureau of Investigation (BOI), which later became the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Finch headed the BOI from 1908 to 1912.

Life

Finch studied among other things at the Baker University in Baldwin City and the Corcoran Scientific School in Washington, DC In 1893 he accepted a position in the Justice Department of the United States . During his tenure in the Justice Department, Finch received his Bachelor of Laws in 1908, and the following year he graduated with a Master of Laws ; both degrees were from the Law School of George Washington University . The District of Columbia Bar was admitted to the bar in 1911. From 1908 to 1912 Finch was the director of the newly formed "Bureau of Investigation". In 1913 Finch became a special assistant to the US attorney general . Until he retired in 1940, Finch worked in both the private sector and continued to work for the Justice Department.
