Cape Touriñán

The Cape Touriñán or Cabo Touriñán ( Spanish , Galician is) the most western point of Galicia and the westernmost point of mainland Spain and westernmost place with CET time zone. It is located in the municipality of Muxía, in the A Coruña province . It is further west than the more famous Cape Finisterre, some 20 km south .

The cape is at the tip of a peninsula that consists essentially of granite rock. It rises up to 93 meters above sea level and protrudes around one kilometer into the Atlantic Ocean . On a plateau 50 meters above sea level there is an old lighthouse from 1898 and its modern successor from 1981. The range of the 11 m high new tower is up to 20  nautical miles (37 km)
