The Cagrithang Monastery ( Tib . : lcags ri thang dgon pa ), also called Drögong Monastery ( bros sgong dgon pa ; Chinese Zhuigong si 追 公 寺) after one of its temples , is a monastery built in 1936 in the Kathog tradition of the Nyingma -School of Tibetan Buddhism in Amdo . It is located in the municipality of Cagrithang in Baima County (Pema / Padma) of Golog in the northwestern Chinese province of Qinghai , about four kilometers southeast of the place. It is a branch of the Kathog Monastery in Kham .

The monastery was built in 1936 by Khenpo Ngaga (Tib. Mkhan po ngag dga ; 1879–1941) and the (Chinese) Baizha Lama from the Kathog Monastery ( ka thog dgon ) in Kham . It is one of the most remarkable due to its extraordinary buildings Sites in the area of Ngolog (Ngolok). It is located near the bridge over the Mar Chu River .

Paradise of the Copper Mountain

Among his buildings, the palace-like, multi-storey Sangdog Pelri ( zangs mdog dpal ri ) temple ("Paradise of the Copper - Colored Mountain", according to Guru Rinpoches / Padmasambhavas ) Pure Land , the Copper- Colored Mountain with its Chinese and Tibetan style elements is the most striking building.

The three floors of the temple are each dedicated to one of the three Buddha bodies Padmasambhava , Avalokiteshvara and Amitabha .

The temple complex is located in a circle around a small hill called the "Shining Iron Mountain".

The complex is surrounded by a wide ring of over a hundred stupas of various sizes and three high manistein walls.

The temple complex consists of three temples (Chinese): Zhuigong si, Duoka si and Tianzang tai

The monastery has been on the list of monuments of Qinghai Province since 1998 .
