Cai from Rantzau
Cai von Rantzau (born May 3, 1726 , † July 21, 1792 ) was Lord of Gaartz in the Oldenburg district , monastery provost and holder of the Danebrog order .
Life
Cai von Rantzau was Herr auf Gaartz and from 1752 Danish budget and district administrator , as well as Danish ambassador to the British court in England from 1754 to 1757. He then went to the Obergericht zu Gottorf, where he was first as Vice Chancellor and from 1766 as Chancellor of the Duchy Schleswig was active. In 1770 he was appointed a secret conference councilor and provost of the monasteries of Preetz and Schleswig , as well as patron of the monastery in Itzehoe . During this time he also became a knight of the Danebrog Order. He was married to Dorothea von Ahlefeldt (1744–1775), the daughter of Johann Rudolph von Ahlefeldt on Damp and Hohenstein.
