Cainde is a village in Angola .

history

The municipality of Cainde was created in 1916 under Portuguese colonial administration . After the country gained independence in 1975, it remained a parish in Virei County.

Cainde is the seat of a municipality of the same name (Comuna) in the district ( Município ) of Virei , in the province of Namibe . Around 12,500 people live in the municipality (2013 estimate). From now on, the 2014 census should provide reliable population data.

The municipality includes seven localities:

  • Huncida
  • Hanja
  • Mungotunda
  • Vitchaviva
  • Luvar
  • TChakuto
  • Sayona (also Saiona)

economy

The community is dominated by agriculture. Agriculture and grazing cattle for self-sufficiency prevail.

The formerly important quarrying of granite and marble, especially at Sayona, is to be reactivated and to provide economic impetus.
