Cake Like was an indie rock band from New York , consisting of Kerri Kenney-Silver (bass and vocals), Nina Hellman (guitar and second voice) and Jody Seifert (drums).

Band history

The band was formed in New York in 1993. At a play at New York University, Kerri met Nina, who was planning to start a new band with her friend Jody. All three had never played an instrument before and thus formed their own style. Her songs are very poetic, but also wacky at the same time. They met John Zorn, who made it possible for them to release their debut "Delicious" under his record company Avant Records. Later Ric Ocasek became aware of them and he brought the three girls to a larger record company, namely "Vapor Records". The two albums "Bruiser Queen" and "Goodbye, So What" were released on this label.

The band was disbanded in 1999 because lead singer Kerri Kenney had to move to Los Angeles because of her acting career .

Today Kerri Kenney is a well-known actress in the USA . Among other things, she played in the MTV film “The State”, but her most famous role was in the series “ Reno 911! “Where she played a policewoman. The US series was discontinued in 2009 after the 6th season. Nina Hellman is also an actress but can mostly be seen in theatrical performances. In 2007 she will be in front of the camera for the first time with her former bandmate Kerri Kenney-Silver , both of whom have a role in the film “THE TEN”, in which Jessica Alba and Adam Brody also star.

Jody Seifert works in the fashion industry today.

Nina Hellman gave a new sign of life for the band in mid-May 2007 on the official MySpace . Due to the great response from the fans , they have decided to give some concerts. There was only superficial talk about a new album. This was withdrawn by her at the beginning of November 2007 because, after consultation with Kerri and Jody, it would no longer be compatible.
