Beaches and bays in Mallorca |
Cala Tuent is a bay with a stony beach in the northwest of the Balearic island of Mallorca . It is located in the municipality of Escorca below the Puig Major , the highest mountain in the Tramuntana Mountains at 1,445 meters .
Location and description
The Cala Tuent lies between the two headlands Morro of Forat and Penyal Foradat . The beach of Cala Tuent , the Platja de Tuent , has a length of 180 meters, the average width is 55 meters. Pebbles, stones and small sandy areas alternate. Due to the elongated water surface of the sea inlet, there is a moderate wave movement within the bay. The water quality is excellent. Outside the marked swimming area there are colder, sometimes strong currents. The bay is not monitored by lifeguards. The boat traffic is minimal.
On the sides of the steep mountain slopes are a few houses in the pine forest that frames the bay . The building of a former restaurant in the middle of the beach was demolished after being vacant for a long time, but there is a small beach bar open on the north side. The torrent Torrent de sa Coma flows out at Cala Tuent , a confluence of the two mountain streams Torrent de s'Al·lot Mort and Torrent des Gorg des Diners , which do not have constant water and which rises directly at the summit of Puig Major . There is a boat connection from Port de Sóller to the bay.
Access
From the MA-10 between Sóller and Lluc, take the serpentine road MA-2141 towards Sa Calobra . Shortly before kilometer 11, the exit to Cala Tuent is signposted to the left. The road from the junction to Cala Tuent , which is around four kilometers long , was re-paved in 2007.
