The center of the village lies on a limestone formation, which is criss-crossed by a multitude of caves at sea level. Sometimes you can swim into these caves. Several middle class hotels and many apartment complexes dominate the place. Several restaurants, bars and shops are spread across the town, there are two mini golf courses, tennis courts, etc.
Cales de Mallorca (Spanish: Calas de Mallorca) is a district ( urbanización ) of the municipality ofThe area includes several sandy beach bays embedded in rock formations: Cala Domingo Gran, Cala Domingo Petits (also called Platja Tropicana after the hotel there) and Cala Antena. These three bays have been awarded the Blue Flag , an annual eco-label for excellent bathing water quality and beach service. In the middle of the village is the rocky bay of Cala Romaguera. To the north of Cala Antena there are other bays belonging to the urbanization, which can only be reached on foot or by boat (Cala Setrill, Caló des Saldat, Cala Bota).
The entire area is considered to be the region with the most caves in Mallorca. Most of the caves have not yet been explored.
