Caliadurgus is a species of wasps (Pompilidae). In Europe only Caliadurgus fasciatellus (Spinola, 1808)occurs from this genus.

features

The medium-sized wasps have a black-colored body, with the front tergites being red. Your front face is suddenly turned vertically downwards. The head and thorax are clearly punctiform. The convex frontal plate ( clypeus ) is short and wide and the apical edge is straight, smooth and shiny. The mandibles are strong and have an extra tooth. The maxillary palps are elongated. Genae, Propleuron , Hips ( Coxen ), the lateral areas of the Propodeum and the first Tergum have long, whitish hair. The pronotum is short, the rear margin is slightly angled. The metapostnotum is about a third as long as the metanotum . The propodeum is increasingly curved, has fine dots and a blue sheen. The forewings are transparent in the males, in the females the marginal, the first and second submarginal and the second disc cells are tinted brown. In both sexes, which is Flügelmal (Pterostigma) tall and has approximately the length of the wing vein 3RS-m. In females, the splints ( tibia ) of the forelegs are dorsally provided with a strong, curved spine. The rails of the hind legs have a series of scale-shaped teeth on the dorsal edge. The tarsals of the front legs are missing tarsal ridges. The second sternum has a transverse groove, the sixth sternum is rounded, and the sixth tergum has numerous almost completely protruding hairs at the tip. In the males, the spines of the middle and rear legs are whitish together with the seventh tergum.

Way of life

The wasps are eurytopic and inhabit many different habitats. The females create their nests in the ground. The brood is supplied with spiders from the families Araneidae and Tetragnathidae .
