Hefty Fine ( ger .: hefty fine ) is the fourth studio album of American alternative rock - band Bloodhound Gang . It was released on September 27, 2005 by Geffen Records and was the band's first album in six years.

Emergence

After a long break, work on a new album started in 2005. The album was supposed to be called Heavy Flow , but the idea was discarded because a Moby song bears the same name. In e-mails between Jimmy Pop and Lüpüs Thünder on the subject of the album name, the running gag hefty fine emerged , which was later used as the title.

On July 26, 2005, Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo was released, the advance single, the album itself was released on September 23, 2005.

Cover

On the cover you can see a plump man lying naked in a box. Carlin Langley served as the model for this, the picture was taken by the German photographer Nela König. The cover of the album was voted 7th of the worst covers of all time by laut.de. The Süddeutsche Zeitung listed the cover among the 99 worst covers of all time. The cover was also included as a poster on the CD.

reception

The opinions of the critics were very different.

Vicky Butscher awards 2 out of 5 stars on laut.de and writes that the concept of the Bloodhound Gang still works very well, but the album is completely uninteresting musically.

Jochen Gedwin from plattentests.de says that some people will love the album and others will hate it, although the latter is quite difficult. He awards 7 out of 10 points.

The album gets 4 out of 10 points on in-your-face.de. There it is criticized that 9 real songs are too few and that Hefty Fine just seems too well calculated.

Caroline Daamen says on the Süddeutsche Zeitung's website that the album may not be for everyone, but that the album can spread a good mood, especially for younger people.

whiskey-soda.de awards the school grade 2+ and describes the record as a typical album of the Bloodhound gang. Qualitatively, the album belongs to the top third.

Matthias Reichel awards 3 out of 10 points on cdstarts.de and describes the songs as incredibly weak and the lyrics as pointless.
