Hooray for Boobies is the third studio album of American alternative rock - band Bloodhound Gang . It reached number one in the German and Austrian charts and is the band's best-selling album with over four million records sold (over a million of them in Germany).

background

After their international breakthrough in 1996 with the album One Fierce Beer Coaster , the band initially took their time to record a new album. The recordings in the studio started in late 1998. During the studio recordings, drummer Spanky G left the band, and Willie the New Guy was found in a casting. At Yummy Down on This Darrin Pfeiffer from Goldfinger sat on the drums. The album itself was released on October 4, 1999 by Geffen / Universal . From March 2000 a defused version was sold in some shops. This contained a different cover and was named Hooray.

Cover

On the cover you can see DJ Q-Ball, Jimmy Pop, Lüpüs Thünder, Spanky G and Jared Hasselhoff, all wearing a white top and a white party hat on their head. In keeping with the album title, women are shown with a bare chest, but the nipples are covered. The udder of a cow can also be seen, as well as two monkeys and three art paintings, two of which also show women with bare chests. Also shown is a sculpture of a woman, another picture shows two tartlets that resemble a woman's breasts. Another picture shows the woman's breast anatomically .

Track list

# title description length
1. I hope you die I Hope You Die is the first song on the album. Stylistically, it's one of the rockiest songs on the album. In the text, Jimmy Pop wishes that an unspecified person dies a gruesome death. 3:39
2. The Inevitable Return of the Great White Dope In the intro you can hear a teacher reciting the alphabet. When she arrives at D is for drums , the drums get in , followed shortly after by the turntables . Stylistically, the song is based on rap / hip-hop , the lyrics deal with the past of Jimmy Pop. The song is part of the soundtrack for the film Scary Movie . 4:02
3. Mama's boy Mama's Boy is the first of five skits on the album and serves as a transition to the next song. You can hear Jimmy Pop calling his mother and asking what rhymes with vagina . 0:34
4th Three point one four This song was supposed to be called Vagina , but because of the threat of censorship, the name was changed. Three Point One Four (German 3.14) stands for the circle number Pi, which in the English language sounds similar to Pee ( slang for vagina) . In the text, Jimmy Pop tells that he is looking for a new vagina. 3:55
5. Mop Mope is a mix of the famous songs Rock Me Amadeus ( Falco ), Relax ( Frankie Goes to Hollywood ), the Pac-Man theme and For Whom The Bell Tolls by Metallica . In addition, there are parts of the band that deal with strange hobbies. 4:36
6th Yummy Down on This Stylistically, it can be classified more as rap and hip-hop . The lyrics of the song are almost exclusively about blowjobs . 3:48
7th The Ballad of Chasey Lain Stylistically, The Ballad of Chasey Lain is back in the field of rock music . The text is an open letter and tribute from Jimmy Pop to the porn actress Chasey Lain . Pop has been a fan of Lain for a long time and writes in the text how he imagines that she shows her breasts at a meeting with his parents. The fanaticism towards Lain changed when Pop and Lain met. There, Pop stated that she had "more hair on her arm than he did". 2:21
8th. RSVP On RSVP, the second of five skits , you can hear Chasey Lain reading a text for a porn that the band wrote themselves. 0:15
9. Magna Cum Nada This song is about pop trying to do less than is expected of it. Stylistically, the song belongs to the crossover . 4:00
10. The bad touch The Bad Touch is considered the band's most successful single. She arrived in Germany No. 1 on the singles chart and reached in Germany and Switzerland Gold status . Among other things, the text is about having sex like the animals on the Discovery Channel . 4:20
11. That Cough Came With A Prize That Cough Came With A Prize is the third of five skits on the album. You hear Jimmy Pop cough for 15 seconds. 0:14
12. Take the Long Way Home The lyrics of Take the Long Way Home are about how boring life is. Stylistically, the song belongs to the crossover. 3:07
13. Hell yeah On this song Jimmy Pop describes what he would do if he were God. The song is in alternative rock , but it is accompanied by turntables . 5:02
14th Right turn Clyde This song was not included on the first versions of the album because the band was in a legal battle with Pink Floyd . In the chorus of Right Turn Clyde there is the line of text “All in all you're just another dick with no balls”, which is a reference to Pink Floyd's song Another Brick in the Wall . In the end, however, the song was allowed to be used for the album. At the end of the song a choir starts singing the title of the song. 5:24
15th This is stupid The choir, previously heard on Right Turn Clyde , sings a text without meaning in this skit in the style of a traditional song. 0:10
16. A Lap Dance Is So Much Better When the Stripper Is Crying In the song, Jimmy Pop describes how he has a relationship with a stripper named Bambi . The song can be assigned to the crossover and the fun punk . 5:37
17th The Ten Coolest Things About New Jersey The last skit on the album. Instead of the ten best things about New Jersey , all you hear is a noise, probably to suggest that there is nothing “cool” about New Jersey. 0:10
18th Along Comes Mary Along Comes Mary is a heavily alienated cover version of a The Association song from 1966. 3:25
47. Hidden track The album's hidden track includes some outtakes and scenes in the studio, including the creation of the song Take the Long Way Home . 3:27

The critic says that many people would recognize their "post-pubescent alter ego" on the album and attested the record a great fun effect. Stephen Thomas Erlewine awards 3.5 out of 5 stars on Allmusic and says that the album would be worthwhile for adolescent boys, at parties and in the car. He also writes that the record could shock some parents. The album is rated 9 out of 10 on sputnikmusic.com . There the critic writes that the album made him laugh for 5 years.
