The Calico Light Weapons Systems Inc. (CLWS) is in the USA Canada based arms manufacturing company, known for its pistols , submachine guns and carbines . The company was founded in Bakersfield in 1982 , but is now based in Cornelius . Another manufacturing facility was originally in Sparks but was later relocated to Hillsboro .
Calico weapons have not yet been used by any police or military unit .
Because of their futuristic appearance, calico weapons have been used in a number of action and science fiction films .
Products
CLWS produces a range of pistols and carbines in .22LR , 9mm Parabellum and .40 S&W calibers . A prominent feature of Calico firearms is the continuous use of 50- or 100- round helix magazines , with Calico pioneering the distribution and use of this type of magazine. The weapons, with the exception of the .22LR caliber model with ground lock, are based on a roller lock according to the Heckler & Koch system. The best-known products are the M950 submachine gun and the M-100 carbine.
