Calum A. Maciver

Calum Alasdair Maciver (* 1981 in Edinburgh ) is a British classical philologist and lecturer in Classical Languages ​​and Literature at the University of Edinburgh in Great Britain.

Raised in Glasgow as the third youngest of eight siblings, he studied and obtained his doctorate in Edinburgh . Calum Maciver researches and publishes primarily on Greek literature from the Roman Empire . His main interests are epic poetry and the ancient novel . Awards for his academic work have included a Leverhulme Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Classical Philological Seminar at the University of Zurich (2008–2009), teaching grants for Graecistics and Latin Studies at the Universities of Edinburgh (2009–2011) and Leeds (2011–2012) and aAlexander von Humboldt fellowship at the Justus Liebig University of Giessen (2013-14).

His annotated translation of Quintus von Smyrna is due to appear in 2017 . He is currently researching the influence of the ancient Homer exegesis on the epics of Statius .
