Camilo Andrés Vargas Gil (born March 9, 1989 in Bogotá ) is a Colombian football goalkeeper who is under contract with Independiente Santa Fe .
Career
society
In his youth, Camilo Vargas first played for the capital club Club Deportivo Maracaneiros and went to Independiente Santa Fe at the age of 16 . At the age of 18 he was a substitute goalkeeper in a game in the Categoría Primera A , the highest league in Colombia. In 2009 he won his first club title with the team when he won the cup . A special year for him was 2011. In the second half of the year he was the main goalkeeper of Santa Fe for the first time. In addition, he scored his only and a particularly significant goal: In Clásico , the city duel with Millonarios FC , he scored the winning goal with a header.
In the Apertura of the game year 2012 , he was a support in winning the championship. He then won the Super League title with the team against the Millonarios, who had won the championship title in the second half of the year. In July 2013 he was again in the league finals, but this time had to be satisfied with the runner-up.
National team
Camilo Vargas played in youth for national national teams of his country and from the master year 2012 he was also appointed to the national team of Colombia . Although he was often called up as a substitute goalkeeper, he was never used in the national jersey. At the soccer World Cup in Brazil in 2014 , he was accepted as the third goalkeeper in the 23-strong Colombian squad.
He was part of the Colombian squad at the 2018 World Cup in Brazil . He was not used as a substitute goalkeeper and was eliminated with the team in the round of 16 against England on penalties.
