Camp warehouse

The Camp Warehouse is a military base located around ten kilometers east of the center of the Afghan capital Kabul . The camp, which previously served as an industrial warehouse, was largely built by soldiers from the German Armed Forces . Several thousand soldiers are now stationed there.

Security situation

The camp, which is located in a manageable valley basin, has been the target of rocket attacks and a suicide attack several times. Most of these attacks occurred before Christmas 2002 .

Naming

The name “Camp Warehouse” is probably due to the initially improvised atmosphere or is derived from the fact that a large part of the area was used as an industrial warehouse before the army camp was established. At the beginning of the mission, the soldiers almost exclusively had to sleep in tents. Masked windows were initially common in service offices. However, the situation has improved in the meantime.

Camp Warehouse was handed over to France on July 15, 2006 .
