Vitaly Dwigun

Vitaly Dwigun ( Russian Виталий Двигун ; * 1935 ) is a former Soviet weightlifter .

Career

Vitaly Dwigun, who came from Stalino in Dagestan , developed towards the end of the 1950s into a serious rival for the "old warriors" Arkady Vorobyov and Vasily Stepanov, who dominated the middle heavyweight division in the Soviet Union . He was a member of the Soviet Army. His trainer was S. Trufanov. From 1958 to 1962 he placed in the front field several times at the Soviet championships. His greatest success was winning the 1960 European Championship in Rome .
