description

The mountain hill bellflower is a perennial herbaceous plant that usually reaches heights of 15 (10 to 30) centimeters. The plant forms mats with its subterranean runners. The basal sheets are ovate-oblong, 5 to 10 inches long, 2 to 3 inches wide and hairy.

The calyx appendages are very small and hidden in the hair. The calyx lobes are hairy and a third as long as the crown. The crown is broad, funnel-shaped, bell-shaped, dark blue-violet and hairy in the throat.

The flowering period extends from June to July.
