The Metro Station Campo-Formio is a station on the Line 5 of the Paris Métro .

location

The station is located in the Quartier de la Salpêtrière in the 13th arrondissement of Paris . It is located lengthways under the Boulevard de l'Hôpital at the level of the Rue de Campo-Formio which leads off.

Surname

The name gives the Rue de Campo-Formio. This road, newly created in 1851, was named after the Campo Formio peace treaty between France and Austria, which ended the First Coalition War started by France in 1792 near the Italian town of Campoformido .

History and description

The station went into operation on June 2, 1906 with the opening of Line 5. This initially ran from the terminus at Place d'Italie for only 1555 m to the Gare d'Orléans station (since 1930: Gare d'Austerlitz ).

Under an elliptical , white tiled ceiling vault, the station has side platforms on two parallel tracks. Their side walls follow the curvature of the ellipse. It has the original Parisian standard length of 75 m, sufficient for five-car trains.

The only access is on the Boulevard de l'Hôpital opposite the junction with the Rue de Campo-Formio. Its decor was designed by Hector Guimard in the Art Nouveau style.

vehicles

The Sprague-Thomson trains on line 5 were replaced from 1978 by vehicles from the MF 67 series , which were followed by MF 01 trains from 2011 .
