Canales Island (English; Spanish Islote Canales ) is a small island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is the largest of a group of islands 175 m north of Ferrer Point in Discovery Bay on Greenwich Island .
Scientists from the 2nd Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1947–1948) named it after a member of the expedition who was involved in surveying Discovery Bay. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated this designation into English in 2004.
