Candid Records

Candid Records is a 1960 in New York founded by Archie Bleyer Jazz - Label (as a sub-label of his Cadence label), for the early 1960s, the jazz critic and civil Nat Hentoff was a producer. They brought u. a. Charles Mingus (" Mingus " 1960, "Charles Mingus presents Charles Mingus"), Abbey Lincoln and Max Roach (with the programmatic " We Insist! Freedom Now Suite ") and Eric Dolphy . The label only existed until 1961. The singer Andy Williams made some re-releases from the catalog on his Barnaby label.

Candid Records was revived in 1988 by the English producer Alan Bates (founder of Black Lion Records ). Bates reissued the entire catalog, as well as some previously unpublished recordings. Candid brought in England a. a. the singers Jamie Cullum , Clare Teal and Stacey Kent out, of which Cullum (whose debut album appeared on Candid) but with onset of success moved on to Universal Jazz and Clare Teal to Sony .

The label also expanded in the Philippines through Bates' wife - Nieves Pascua-Bates. "Candid Records Philippines" brought u. a. the jazz guitarist Johnny Alegre and the jazz singer Mon David . The British music label, which has been in existence to the present day, is based in London.
