Caniçada is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in northern Portugal .

Caniçada is part of the Vieira do Minho county in the Braga district . The community had an area of ​​6.9 km² and 455 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

Part of the Caniçada Dam lies in the municipality's territory.

On September 29, 2013, the parishes of Caniçada and Soengas were merged to form the new parish União das Freguesias de Caniçada e Soengas . Caniçada is the seat of this newly formed community.
