Composition and Mixing

The template for the track is the soundtrack for the science fiction film Star Wars . The theme of the "Mos Eisley Cantina", played by the so-called "Cantina Band", was used for the track. The melody was originally composed by the American composer John Williams . The original recording was used for the remix, and producers Manian , Manuel Schleis and Bastian Van Shield added a beat to it. In addition, various sounds from the entire film, including the beeping of R2D2 , have been added.

Release & single cover

Cantina was released on December 3, 2010 as CD and download. The track was released by the German dance label Kontor Records and Manian's own record label Zooland Records . On the single cover, in addition to the Spencer & Hill logo, on which the two DJs can be seen as mouse-like figures, Van Shield is also shown as a comic figure. In the background you can see the Death Star and the title Cantina is written in the Star Wars font style.

Music video

The official music video of Cantina was uploaded to the official YouTube account of the record label Kontor Records on November 3rd, 2010 . Again, this is based on the Star Wars story. It starts with a small group of young children playing in a junkyard. Suddenly a small object comes flying from the sky. When it arrives on earth, it opens and a Star Wars craze breaks out in the children. They dress up in the style of Jedi Knights, Droids, and various Star Wars characters, such as Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. In the disguises, scenes re-enact and use old cars as spaceships. The video ends, similar to the fourth part in which Princess Leia honors Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. The music video was viewed half a million times after a year and a half.

Versions and remixes

A total of seven different remixes can be found on the single. It should be noted that there is, on the one hand, a final version that Manian, Manuel Schleis alias Spencer & Hill and Bastian Van Shield have mixed as official interpreters, as well as individual revisions by the DJs Solo, i.e. on the one hand a final version of Van Shield and of Spencer & Hill alone.
